A trio of psychologists at Azusa Pacific University in the U.S. has identified a possible reason for people experiencing a sudden negative reaction to a potential dating partner that has come to be known colloquially as “the ick.” The ick, the researchers suggest, is likely tied to something much deeper than what initially seems obvious—the way a person combs their hair, for example, or how they look in shorts.
